I noticed a lump under my right arm. I was adjusting a hat in the mirror, and it was clearly visible. No pain associated with it. I saw my doctor and she referred me to our local breast center for a mammogram. There, they did the mammogram as well as an ultrasound. The doctor said it loold like a swollen ventricle and that if it got bigger, I should see a vein doctor. I m just wondering if it is, in fact a vein, what would cause this? It has grown a bit larger so I m gping to get it checked out. Is this something that could be deadly? Is it likely I could need to have it surgically removed to get rid of it? Also, I have pulmonary stenosis, not sure if this is associated or not. Thank you in advance.
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. The swelling in the axilla that proved to be a ventricle like a dilated vein, confirmed by Ultrasound and no lymph node or mass in the breast or anywhere else is a good sign. It may not be related to the pulmonary stenosis as such since this is a single one and far away from the affected site. This is not at all dangerous but it is worthwhile to get this excised as this is not a normal part of the body. Secondly you will get the confirmed diagnosis by the way of getting histo-pathology done. it is possible that you have an inadvertent trauma in past, direct or indirect that caused the injury with the small vein and the affected part got dilated.
